AC Horsens was founded in 1994 after a merger between Horsens Forenede Sportsklubber and FC Horsens.

The club was promoted to the highest league in 2005. Four seasons later, the club was relegated to the Danish First Division, in which it immediately became champion with great force majeure under the leadership of trainer-coach Johnny Mølby. After relegation in 2013, the club was promoted again to the Superligaen after three years, from which it was relegated in 2021, but also immediately promoted again.

The most famous player from the AC Horsens youth academy is undoubtedly Simon Kjær, who plays for AC Milan. Other well-known names are Mads Bech Sørensen, who plays for Brentford FC and has been loaned to FC Groningen this half of the season, Frederik Rønnow, who plays for 1.FC Union Berlin and Jeppe Kjær, who was sold by Ajax to Bodø/Glimt in February.

The goal of the AC Horsens Academy is to bring together the most talented youth players from the region. The club has entered into a partnership with 25 clubs from the East Jutland region. These clubs form the basis for the academy and are therefore of great importance to ACH.

AC Horsens takes part in the KST for the fourth time. The Danes finished eighth in 2018 and fourth in 2019. Last year they achieved their best performance so far with a third place.
