After an earlier performance at the Karel Stegeman Toernooi in 2005, German FC Carl Zeiss Jena comes for the second time to Ruurlo this year.
Coach of the participating team is the 37-year-old ex-professional footballer Mark Zimmerman. Zimmermann played in his career from 1992 to 2008 respectively for FC Carl Zeiss Jena, SpVgg Unterhaching, Alemannia Aachen, Stuttgarter Kickers, FC Sachsen Leipzig and again FC Carl Zeiss Jena. For these clubs he played 281 matches in which he scored 65 goals.
Befor his career in professional football, he played in his youth for Stahl Bad Salzungen and from the B-youth for FC Carl Zeiss Jena. It speaks almost for itself that he after his career started as a trainer at the club from Jena, where he had played for 14 seasons.
