Debut Tim Keurntjes

Tim Keurntjes, in 2008 on the Karel Stegeman toernooi with De Graafschap, made his Eredivisie debut on Sunday 22 January for FC Groningen.

After a year and a half in which he mostly appeared in the B-team and often had to take long sits on the bench, he was allowed to come on the pitch during the game with Heracles Almelo. In a conversation with FC Groningen Blog he says that the road to this debut was not quite like he had expected.
"The first season at FC Groningen is not entirely become of what I had expected from it. That came mainly by myself, on the training I performed well but in all the matches I might have played only a handful of games well in the B-team, and that is of course far too little", said the midfielder.
The 21-year-old player is a lot more positive about his current performance. "This season I have said to myself just to start again: a new start. It goes well now, I'm now decisive in the B-team and I believe I was twelve or thirteen times in the selection of the A-team".
The youngster was satisfied about his debut, though he had previously made already some play minutes in the Cup game with AZ earlier this season. "It was a beautiful experience to make my debut in a packed Euroborg. I had already secretly hoped for it, because I was already twelve times selected. It could not take long anymore and luckily I got a few minutes against Heracles. It tastes to more anyway and I will continue like this and keep hoping that I'm going to make a lot more minutes".
